The Black Box (1999-2013)

The Black Box is an unique theatre installation for one audience member.

There have been 11 shows made for this format and medium. It has toured to 9 countries across the globe. Around 20,000 people have seen The Black Box from the inside alone, and thousands more have encountered in from the outside (especially in outdoor arts contexts). In 2008 it was selected to be part of the British Council Showcase in Edinburgh, and has been nominated for a Total Theatre Award for innovation and experimentation.

This book (pdf download) celebrates 15 years of making and touring with The Black Box. It unpacks and explains the vocabulary, offers critical, historical, contexts, and described each show made since the very first in 1999.
